How do I get involved once I join?
Our productions are generally planned a year in advance and auditions held about 6 months in advance. Our members are kept informed of all of this in our regular Newsletters.
As a general guide our annual programme usually comprises a Pantomime at Christmas, an Easter Musical, a summer season of two or three productions and an October production.
We are also heavily involved with the annual Guernsey One Act play festival in May with many of our members producing and/or taking part in one or more of these short plays. This is a perfect opportunity for new actors and directors to get involved.
We also regularly hold social evenings during the year which include play readings and refreshments, sing-along open mic nights as well as our annual Quiz in November and our Dinner and Dance in February each year.
Although we are not formally a training organisation we do hold occasional workshops with visiting professionals or local experts, in all aspects of drama to which all of our members are invited.
So I need to be able to act then?
Actors, directors, singers and dancers are always welcome, of course, but just as important, if not more so, are the many other people who make a production possible – choreographers, musicians, costume designers and makers, set designers, builders and painters, stage crew, stewards, PR experts, graphic designers, programme sellers and so on –the list is endless – there is always a job to do!
How do I sign up?
Application forms for membership are available from our Membership Secretary. Applicants require a Proposer who must be a current adult member of the club but if this isn’t possible then we will ask you to provide certain references.
